Project
VGMO.NET is a Web-based portal to archives located at various remote locations such as - the World Data Centers and various other magnetic observatories. Abundance and diversity of currently available, spatially distributed geomagnetic databases have created an urgent need for more sophisticated search engines capable of identifying geomagnetic data on the World Wide Web and then retrieving data for scientific analyses. VGMO.NET provides a new paradigm for processing and dissemination of geomagnetic datasets. Unlike simple file transfers, it handles information exchange at a higher level ñ as a continous "on-demand", Internet-based, object-building activity that makes access to distributed databases transparent to the end-users.
