2. What is the purpose of issuing activation codes?
When a new user registers with VGMO.NET we send an activation code to his email address. This activation code is only required once to activate the account. The purpose of generating activatin code is to make sure that users specify a valid email id. Note that this activation code is not required for subsequent sessions.
3. Why do we need to authenticate twice when we initiate the application from the within the browser?
Java Web Start allows users to start applications from outside the traditional web browser environment. However, for the purpose of preparing the client machine for VGMO.NET we require that the very first initiation of this system from a client machine should be through a web browser. Once the required components are installed, the user can choose to create a shortcut to VGMO.NET on his desktop or start up menu. Subsequent initiations can be invoked from outside the web browser, using desktop shortcut.
Each of these tasks has it's own authentication process. As a result when VGMO.NET is launched from within the web browser, the user has to authenticate twice - once for installing required components and the other for actually using the system.
4. Where is downloaded code stored?
The downloaded code is stored in a sand box. Sand box is a protective environment which has its own set of resources. Applications downloaded in a sand box can use privileged resources like network interface, hard drives etc. only after obtaining explicit clearance from the user. Every time the application is launched, the earlier downloaded version in the sand box verifies its version with the code publisher ( with our server for VGMO.NET). If a new version is available it is downloaded and written onto the earlier version in the sand box. Unavailablity of the server will prohibit the application from running.
5. The system does not start from the shortcuts created on desktop and start menu?
This can happen in the event of server unavailability. Try initiating the application from within the web browser, if this also doesn't work, the server may be down. Try again after some time. Check, do you use firewall, VGMO uses ports 3460-3465,5089,7072,7073 to communicate with server. If they are blocked, adjust firewall setting.VGMO uses JAVA to comunicate, so for firewall it will be JAVAW program requesting comunication. VGMO also can't get server responce if proxy server is using. In such cases install stand along version on you PC
5. There is FFMN window on screen, but it dos not respond to any comands?
This can happen in the case of lost comunication with server. Kill javaw process Ctrl/Alt/Del -> Task Manager ->Processes -> End Process.
6. Will VGMO work with UNIX computer?
Client part of VGMO is writing on JAVA and must work. Now it is tested with MAC OS X, and must work with other system.
